The XPS M1710 has an absolute plethora of features, making it a very flexible PC for gamers and regular PC users alike.

Best Features:

  • A top of the line 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo Processor, making it a very fast, powerful laptop.
  • nVidia Go 7900 GTX graphic card, the most current and best graphic card around. This gives the Dell XPS M1710 incredible graphics for games played on the laptop.
  • nVidia GeForce Go 7900 GTX graphics processor with 512 MB of DDR3 memory. The PC is capable of easily running both high-powered games and Microsoft’s operating system Vista.
  • 17 in wide-screen which comes in two colors: Red or Black. Both look very sharp.
  • High resolution LCD screen that is bright and easy to see.
  • Very nice keyboard that is comfortable to type and game on. It’s also very durable, as it is made of a thick, tough plastic.
  • 2GB of memory, with the capabilities to be expanded to a whopping 4GB of memory.
  • 100GB SATA hard drive. More than enough space for business documents, music and games. You shouldn’t run out of space with this drive.
  • The hard drive is quite durable, as it has a StrikeZone shock absorber to withstand small drops and bumps.

Other Features:

  • Good built-in sound, complete with an integrated sub-woofer with decent bass. The XPS is capable of pumping out good sounds.
  • Good battery life at 2 and a half hours. Considering how powerful the laptop is, this is a good amount of time to run without being plugged in. Students and business people alike should be happy with this battery life.
  • Comes loaded with the Microsoft XP media center. Can be easily upgraded to the new Vista.
  • MediaDirect software from Dell plays CDs and DVDs, as well as lets a user access their media files without booting up XP. Useful if something should happen to your operating system and you need to access the files.
  • Headphone and microphone plug-ins.
  • VGA output.
  • DVI output.
  • Two-layer DVD drive.

Pros:

  • This is a top of the line gaming PC that is capable of running games which require lots of memory and a great graphics card.
  • The Dell XPS M1710 is probably one of the best gaming laptops on the market. It is loaded with much of the latest in technology.

Cons:

  • Extremely expensive laptop PC.
  • It lacks a built-in TV tuner. This presents a problem for some who expect a tuner for such an expensive price.

Overall, the Dell XPS M1710 is a great gaming PC for those who can afford to pay the high cost. If you can’t afford to pay so much, you might as well look elsewhere.
