Sony VAIO takes a step forward with the L series

I am not a big Apple fan, but I must admit that the iMac is one of the first things I would like to get in the near future, but this may change with the new VAIO L series from Sony. No, Sony didn’t start to manufacture computers able to run Apple’s Mac OS X, but they introduced a revolutionary concept with this new VAIO that reminds me of Apple’s all-in-one computer I just mentioned.
The L series released today is an integrated business and entertainment tool that brings together a fully functional PC, a LCD and a stylish chassis made of polycarbonate, that is light, strong and durable.
An interesting feature of this computer allows you to play music and view artist information, calendar and time even when the keyboard is folded up, and the devices to take care of your audition are the enhanced Sound Reality chip, the high quality stereo speakers having a power of 3W each and, of course, Sony’s SoundFLOW software application.
The L series features built-in Wireless LAN IEEE 802.11b/g and a MOTION EYE camera that allows you to conduct video chat sessions, helped by the integrated microphone. The screen can be tilted at angles between 12 and 30 degrees, and with a minimal tilt and the keyboard folded up, the VAIO L has a footprint of only 14cm, making more space available on your desk than ever before.
If you are not impressed by the innovative design of this computer, then I am sure you know what to expect in terms of performance from a VAIO - nothing but the best. The T5600 processor runs at 1.83GHz and is backed up by 1GB of memory, using a 120GB Ultra ATA-100 hard drive for storage and a 15.4 inch Wide Clear Bright LCD. Graphics are displayed with the help of the GeForce Go 7400 GPU, while the DVD Supermulti drive can handle all the DVD formats available on the market, no matter if you want to read or write data.
At last, you should know that the software package that comes with the VAIO L series includes notorious applications, such as Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0, WinDVD for VAIO 8.0, Click to DVD 2.6, SoundFLOW, SonicStage CP 4.2, SonicStage Mastering Studio 2.3 and SonicStage Mastering Studio Audio Filter 2.3, being also the first model from Sony to features Windows Vista Home Premium Edition.
