Ultraportable gaming mayhem from ABS

Having a gaming laptop that doesn’t require a truck to be carried around is a great thing, and also something you don’t get to see often, but ABS Mayhem Blackhawk manages to deliver a really powerful gaming performance punch in only 3.8 pounds!

ABS Computer Technology made the new Mayhem Blackhawk available to the public last Friday, and I must confess that things look pretty good. Just think about the fact that you can get the basic configuration for 1,499$, with a free Logitech headset, Age of Empires III, Far Cry, and MS Works 2004 included!

Now, the basic configuration I just mentioned includes a 2GHz Core 2 Duo T7200 processor, 1GB of DDR2 memory, an 80GB hard drive spinning at 5,400rpm and an internal DVD burner, together with a GeForce 7600 GT graphics accelerator from nVidia that displays images on a 14.1 inch LCD display.

Obviously, this system can be customized to better suit your gaming needs, and despite the fact that you can’t get anything better than the current GPU, you can go higher to a 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo T7600, RAM to 2GB, and storage to 100GB (7,200rpm) without making the price jump the 2,000$ limit!

At last, I must say that despite the fact that the Blackhawk comes with Windows Vista Home Premium, just as expected, you can choose to get XP Professional or Home Edition, since this is a choice worthy to be considered by other producers too!
