Toshiba Unveils Satellite A205 Laptop Series with 802.11n Technology
Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a unit of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., has announced the new Satellite A205 notebook series with select models featuring Intel’s new Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965AGN supporting draft 802.11n wireless connectivity, built-in Webcam and Labelflash technology.
Based on the new wireless LAN technology, the 802.11n specification delivers greater bandwidth and transfer speeds up to five times faster than the previous 802.11g standard, as well as being advantageous in a variety of network configurations at home and locations such as coffee shops, airports and hotels.
The Satellite A205 series also features a built-in Webcam in the notebook’s LCD bezel for participating in live video chats, as well as capturing quick and fun snapshots.
For consumers looking to add a personal touch to their homemade DVD and CD collections, select models of the Satellite A205 series support Labelflash, a fusion of software and hardware that harnesses the power of the optical drive laser. Instead of wasting time and ink generating old-fashioned labels, users can quickly burn high-quality images and text onto special Labelflash DVD-R disks for a more finished and professional look and easier organization of extensive collections. The Labelflash technology is incorporated into the DVD SuperMulti drive that can read and write in all major optical media formats, including double layers.
“Toshiba’s new Satellite A205 series provides consumers with a powerful notebook computer that’s ready to handle any task ranging from entertainment to productivity,” said Jeff Barney, vice president of marketing, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. “The Satellite A205 series packs advanced performance and affordability into an eye-catching design, making the notebook much more than just a stunning machine on the outside.”
For increased functionality and optimal storage capacity, Toshiba offers the Satellite A205-S4639, which features two SATA hard disk drives totaling 280 GB for maximum storage of digital content such as MP3s, photos and home videos. This model also features the Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 graphics card for displaying digital media in vivid clarity as well as increasing overall performance and battery life. The notebook has an estimated single unit price (ESUP) of $1,549.99. Toshiba also offers the value-packed Satellite A205-S4577 with a 160 GB hard disk drive for a price point that’s less than $1,000.
The series has a starting weight of 6.29-lbs depending on configuration, and features Toshiba’s signature Onyx Blue Metallic LCD lid, as well as an all new attention-grabbing illuminated Satellite badge, which is positioned on the lip of the palm rest. Also, to compliment its widescreen display, the notebooks feature a wider touchpad for easier navigation of software windows and access to multimedia controls and icons. The Satellite A205 series incorporates a new silver Windows Vista compliant keyboard provides ample spacing between keys for greater comfort and dexterity during typing.
A fingerprint reader for heightened system security and convenient replacement of typed passwords is included on the Satellite A205-S4617 and the Satellite A205-S4639. With the swipe of a finger, you can quickly and easily access and secure your digital content.
