Once you got a laptop of your own, the worst thing that can happen to it, apart from being stolen or blowing up in smoke, is to develop problems that require a mainboard replacement. The next in line is the LCD replacing, second costly repair that you may need to pay for, and today we’re going to show you how to do it yourself. Are you ready?
First of all, you should have the following tools at hand: a small Phillips screw driver, paper and pencil for documentation (or simply a printer with enough paper loaded), and a little bit of tape to keep the screws together.

When you get to hear about a company going up, you think about a market share growth or an improvement of the services and products it has to offer to its customers, but when the truth is different, most chances are that you won’t get any good news…
Unfortunately, this is exactly the case with Acer, a Taiwan-based company which became by 2004 one of the world’s top five branded PC vendors. In its country of origin, Acerland, the retail chain of the company, is the second largest, coming right after Asus, but since the profits didn’t seem to be high enough, they just took a decision that doesn’t seem really right to me, but whatever - Acer is going to rise its prices!
According to Semmy Levit, UK country manager, Acer is looking to get more SKUs on the shelves of its partners, with higher prices. While the 17 and 20 inch notebooks seem to be the right tools to get more money from the customers, Acer is also trying to scoop up more SMB customers. (read more)
Recently, Computer manufacturer Acer decided to shed its image of being a second-tier player in the PC business. They hoped to do this by partnering with high-end car maker Ferrari. When they announced the partnership, they announced that a new series of Acer PCs, called the Acer Ferraris, were to be released shortly. These PCs were set to feature the Ferrari logo and racing colors, plus great speed.
Much like the Ferrari vehicles, the Acer Ferraris don’t come cheap. However, if you have a deep enough pocket, the price spent is well worth it.
One of these PCs is the Acer Ferrari 5000, a premium laptop PC. It has many great features, making it easily one of the best laptops on the market.

Taiwanese PC manufacturer Acer has long been thought of as a “second-tier” PC company. Sales tend to confirm this thought, as Acer is currently ranked no. 4 worldwide.
Previously, Acer used their low prices and close relationships with distributors to create market-share gains, but now, according to Businessweek, they are trying to shed the image of not being a major player in the PC industry by teaming up with Ferrari, a well-known car maker.
Ferrari and Acer are collaborating together to create fresh designs for Acer’s PCs. LCD monitors have been updated with the innovative use of the Ferrari logo and racing colors. Acer monitors for desktop PCs aren’t the only thing to see this change–Acer is also using Ferrari on laptops.
Acer Ferrari 1005WTMi is the latest addition to Acer Ferrari’s series. The new laptop comes equipped with a 12 inch screen and a 1366 x 768 resolution and is distinguished from other laptops by its sleekness and built in 1.3 Megapixel camera.
