Laptop company MALIBAL has introduced its Veda series of laptops, featuring a massive 20.1″ LCD boasting the comparatively low resolution of 1680×1050 which will be suitable for gaming but not so hot for graphics pros.
You’d think for a screen this size you’d be getting 1920×1200, but 16×10’s not all that bad I guess (as I sit here typing this on a 20″ LCD at 1680×1050 :P). (read more)

After Samsung, the guys at LG have entered the hybrid hard drive laptops market, and their “weapon” is called R400. If you hear about the hybrid hard drive for the first time now, it’s enough to say that tests have revealed that this solution makes data processing three times faster than before, and the most obvious part of this is seen when the computer boots up.
Although expected to be available at the end of this month, the R400 can be ordered already from various online stores, and the price known at this time is a bit over $1,000, which seems to be really low for a hybrid laptop, but let’s see what do you get for your money now… (read more)

Last weekend, Japan became the first country in the world where the only laptop computer featuring an HD DVD-R drive, Toshiba’s Qosmio G30, can be bought at this time.
Since the disc format used by this computer is the read-only version of the HD DVD format, which is backed by Toshiba, it shouldn’t be a surprise the fact that Toshiba is also the company that made the first laptop capable to use it. (read more)
